Tips for Beginners
DON’T BE LATE – IN FACT, COME EARLY.
Studio will be always open 15 minutes before and after each class. So come as early as you can to fill out application and get some info. That way we can spend some time talking a little, we’ll tell you about us, you will tell us about you. Always alert teacher of any injuries especially recent ones, that way we can guide you through class even better. By coming early you can spend some time inside the hot room allowing your body to acclimate to the heat and settle down. Late entry is not permitted so as not to disturb the class.
MAKE AN EFFORT TO HAVE A HEALTHY DAY.
Make an effort to have a healthy day when you decide to go for your first class so eat well throughout the day but be smart, its better to leave heavy foods out of your regiment. Try not to eat 2 hours prior to class and if hungry, have a small piece of fruit or nuts 30 minutes prior to class.
YOU KNOW ITS COMING – HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE.
Remember about making an effort to have a healthy day? Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body supple and to be able to produce a lot of sweat. Skin is the largest organ of your body and through heavy sweating you will be able to detoxify all kinds of toxins out of your temple. In order for you to sweat and still have enough water in your body not to feel dehydrated.
LEAVE SWEAT ON!
Talking about sweat, leave it on and do not wipe it off. Sweat acts as your personal refrigerator – cooling your surface enough to bring your internal body temperature to normal. By wiping your sweat off you are disrupting homeostasis – ability of your body to maintain stable and safe internal environment by adapting to external factors, such as higher temperatures.
We take pride in making you sweat. Don’t make it even harder on yourself, wear light breathable clothing (not cotton) that will help you deal with heat much better.
BREATHE IN AND OUT BY YOUR NOSE.
It will help you to keep your nervous system calm and will enable you to recuperate in less than 1 minute should you start feeling overwhelmed. It is truly a wonder of what you can do through your breath. Start discovering all the miracles your breathing has to offer by closing your mouth and inhaling deeply and exhaling normally through your nose.
BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF.
It took you many years to get to the physical and mental state you are currently in, it will take some time to get better. For your first few classes take it very easy and focus mainly on your breathing and staying in the room. Believe us, we know exactly how you feel. Try to stay in the room and leave only if you absolutely must. You need to believe that you are in the safe environment and the teacher can make sure that you are OK. Do only as much or as little as you can, this is not all or nothing class.
